Ready for a little Adventure?!?!

Think “Little House on the Prairie” … gone a little modern …

Let’s take your stay with us to the next level – creating memories that you’ll be telling & laughing about for years to come!

Pine Ridge Homestead is a real, working homestead – with lots of activities going on all the time.  We would love to teach you some of the homesteading skills – taking home a little something you created while you were here and (more importantly) building a skill you can use for a lifetime!

We’ve listed below our most requested Adventures – but if you had your heart set on learning/doing something else – please let us know and we’ll see what we can do for you!

Think of these like cruise excursions – but with a homestead twist!  Each has a small per person fee, some with a minimum number, and an allotted amount of time (hands-on/learning and overall time).  Like all that we do at Pine Ridge Homestead, our goal is to provide you with an atmosphere and experience that is unforgettable, creating memories – but not breaking the bank!

Please let us know, at least, 24 hours before your arrival if you would like to do any of the Adventures so we will have everything ready for you upon arrival.  As you will see, several of the Adventures will need us to start soon after your arrival so they will be ready for you to take home with you (your friends & family will be so impressed!).  Email us what you are interested in and how many will be participating at [email protected] or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

We are looking forward to your visit and hope to help you create some amazing memories that will last a lifetime!

Soap Making

Who doesn't love an amazing homemade bar of soap (please tell me - that's not just me!)?

In this Adventure you will learn and make soap - just like Ma Ingalls!

$10/person - minimum of 3 (includes 1 bar of soap/person you made).

Approximately 1 hour of hands on time and about 15 minutes the next day.

At least 24 hours "resting" time is needed for your soap before you can take it home.

Bread Making

Is there anything better than the smell of warm, fresh-made bread?

Together we'll make a beautiful (and yummy) loaf of bread ready to add to the dinner table!

Depending if you have chosen yeast or sourdough bread, you'll have your bread on the table in about 3 hours (don't worry - only about 1 hour is direct hands-on/learning time).

$10/person - minimum of 3 (includes 1 small loaf of bread/person you made).

Approximately 1 hour of hands on time and about 15 minutes the next day.

Cheese Making

Seriously! You can do this - it is easier than you might think!

Of course, there are about a gazillion types of cheeses we could make - but I like to start out with a basic hard-aged Colby cheese (can't go wrong with it - and it is a very beginner friendly cheese).

This one takes approximately 2 hours of hands-on/learning time spread out across 48 hours (so we need some time before you leave us).

$10/person - minimum of 3 (includes 8oz of cheese/person you made).

Butter Making

Need some butter to go with that bread?

One of the easiest (and quickest) Adventures we can do together - taking only about 1 hour total (hands-on and teaching time).

$10/person - minimum of 3 (includes whatever butter you get out of about 1 cup of cream).

Approximately 1 hour of hands on time and about 15 minutes the next day.

Yogurt Making

Do you see a theme here??? Sooooo much you can make with milk!

OK - I know I said butter was the easiest ... but yogurt may be even easier!!! (P.S. I'm not too much of a purist not to use the InstaPot!)!

This one takes approximately 1 hour of hands-on/learning time spread out across 24 hours.

$10/person - minimum of 3 (includes 8oz of yogurt/person you made).

Quilting

Finally - something NOT cooking!

While we won't have time to make a whole quilt - we can certainly get a small project done and teach you the skills to make whatever you'd like quilting.

$10/person - NO minimum (I get it [sort of...] - not everyone wants to sew).

Approximately 1 hour of hands on time - and a lifetime of fun!

Crocheting

While we're on the crafting boat - let's do some crocheting!

Together, we'll learn and make a simple crocheted item for you to take home and impress your family & friends with!

This one takes approximately 1 hour of hands-on/learning and (again) a lifetime of fun & endless projects!

$10/person - NO minimum (I get it [sort of...] - not everyone wants to crochet).

Animals

Ready to get to real farm life???? Let's dig in and get dirty (maybe literally!) - and learn about a particular farm animal!

Depending upon my whim of what I have active on the farm at the time - you can choose from: chickens, dairy cows, meat rabbits, bees (if I have them at the time), maybe sheep soon (shhhhh - don't tell Darren!)!

$10/person - minimum of 3 (includes great tidbits for Trivial Pursuit night and unforgettable memories).

Approximately 1 hour.

Noodle Making

Didn't Granny just make the BEST noodles?!?! Wouldn't it be fun to pick that tradition back up?

Where else do you have to go collect your eggs before you make your noodles - right here!

We'll learn all about noodle making and you'll be ruined for life on store bought noodles (your welcome!).

$10/person - NO minimum because EVERYONE needs pasta in their life!

Barn/Teat to Table Adventure

Want to see the WHOLE experience - literally from "teat to table"? We got you covered!

We'll start out in the barn (of course) gathering our milk, possibly stop by the chicken coop and gather a couple eggs (if needed) - then head into the kitchen and make "whatever" with the items we've collected. Any of the dairy items above - we can "start from the literal beginning".

$25 per person - minimum of 3 (includes the bounty of whatever you've made).

Please fill out the form below and hit the submit button so we know what you would like to include as an Adventure for your upcoming visit. Or you can email us the information at [email protected].

We will reach out for further details.
